Minutes McKnight Neighborhood Council

6:00—7:00 pm:  Welcome from President Kroll; Annual Community Holiday Pot Luck Dinner took place with entertainment from the Rebecca Johnson Children’s Chorus, and a solo performance by Ms. Sierra Gamble.

Business meeting called to order 7:00 p.m.:   (WK verified quorum present)

Board Members Present (7):  Walter Kroll (Pres);   Brandi Gamble-Lucas, (Secy/Clerk), Elizabeth Stevens, (Treas);  Lloyd Creswell (Asst Sec/Clerk); Ishaq Harris (ClerkAsst Treasurer), Tawreak Eddington, Ben Swan, Jr. {Elizabeth Lederman, Adm. Staff}.

Board Members Not Present (7):  Demetrios Panteleakis (Vice Pres), Donna Jordan, Greg Gavin, Colin Kirby, Elizabeth O’Ogilvie,  April Mitchell-Edwards

OFFICER REPORTS

o    SECRETARY’S REPORT: (Brandi Gamble Lucas) 

Minutes of Board Meeting, November 12, 2013 submitted for acceptance.

MOTION: (LC moved) to accept as presented; (BS seconded ); ( WK called the question); Motion carried unanimously.  

o    TREASURER’S REPORT: (Elizabeth Stevens)

Treasurer’s report tabled until Jan meeting—books in process of being transferred to Quick Books cloud service.

NEW BUSINESS—OPEN TO THE FLOOR

o    Concerns expressed about litter from convenience stores, and whether business properties need to conform to historical commission guidelines; church on corner of Clarendon and St James supposedly sold to another church organization, their plans for the property unknown; question raised about a Dartmouth property opening a food pantry. 

o    Ward 4 City Councilor Twiggs gave a brief overview of recent City Council activities, discussed status of pawn broker ordinance and upcoming discussions about digital billboards.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

RAIL TRAIL : (Elizabeth Stevens, Chair) 

o    Liz S reported that the City has put the feasibility study for the rail trail out to bid.  Should be completed by end of summer.

 PUBLIC SAFETY: (Walter Kroll, Chair)

o    Walter K reported that break-ins and assaults are up, also stolen cars.  Recent stabbing at apartment complex on Worthington.  Efforts being made to seek more accountability from the owner.  Neighborhood Watch offering “Stay Safe” training for the holidays and winter season.  

WRAP-UP

o    Ben S networking with possible editor for neighborhood newsletter.

o    Liz S shared that fund raiser calendars are available to support the Urban Wildlife Rescue organization located on Bowdoin Street.
